Atlanta Charity Clays

The Atlanta Charity Clays began over 21 years ago as a fundraising alternative. The two shooters who created the event were charged with overseeing a new event on the social calendar. Why not do something different they thought. Having been to one black tie event too many the two quickly seized upon clay shooting as a great way to spend a day in the country, meet with friends who share a love of the outdoors and by the way, raise some money!

The rest is history; the Atlanta Charity Clays tournament has become one of the premier events on the American shooting calendar. Participants have the full range of shooting skills, from the most occasional participant in the sport, to national champions and come from all parts of the country and even overseas.

Today it is comprised of three events; a Thursday evening, Kick-off Party. Shooters, spouses and friends gather to mingle, reminisce about the years hunting exploits and savor a delicious buffet.

Friday is Gold Sponsors' Day where the ACC pampers its Gold and upper level sponsors with shooting and an elaborate lunch. Typically the outing is at a private clays venue. In the past sponsors such Holland and Holland and Land Rover have exhibited their wares and encouraged the crowd to use them on site. Networking, socializing and good fun are the hallmarks of Gold Sponsor’s Day.

Saturday is Tournament Day; we have held the Tournament at historic Burge Plantation, a private club, since its inception. Nearly 300 shooters will attend and shoot a 75 target clays course. Along with sporting clays the day long event includes a full barbecue lunch and games such as the Flush, the Five Stand and the Make-a-Break.

Operating under the auspices of the Atlanta Community Foundation, the ACC benefits Atlanta area children’s charities. The organizers primary goal is to sponsor an event that people truly enjoy while maintaining a sharp eye on the bottom line. We strive for excellence and a low expense ratio, it seems to work, in the past 21 years we have netted and contributed over $3,300,000 to Atlanta Children’s causes.
